Question about Units in Computer Science Discoveries

I teach a video Game Design class and as the year winds down I was going to give my students a choice on what to finish up in. I was wondering do you have to follow the units in Computer Science Discoveries or can you pick and choose what to assign the students? I would like to assign some of my students who struggle with CS concepts Unit 3 in Computer Science Discoveries without starting at Unit 1. Is this possible to do or do the concepts build from unit to unit meaning the students need to work through each unit?

Thanks for any help you can provide me.

Hi John,

We suggest that classes start at Unit 1 because it helps to establish the cultural norms of the class and introduces some basic frameworks that thread throughout the course. That said, if your students have already been programming together, they should be able to jump into Unit 3 without much of a problem.
