# Does word count need to be recorded?

Do students have to record their actual word count for each of the written questions?? I noticed on some of the exemplars provided by [code.org](http://code.org) that they were listed but don’t see that it’s a requirement…

@margaret.birch this is just something we did for the exemplars we created. There’s no need to add these to your actual task.
