# In-text citations

Are in-text citations counted as part of the students word count in the written response of the Performance Tasks.

If word count is becoming an issue, I would suggest using a numbered citation system. Create a bibliography in 2e. Then reference the article number in the text.

To expand on Sangeeta’s response, the references/bibliography do go in 2e, where there is no stated word limit.
