So, it seems that Google and Wikipedia has gotten the jump on us as far as the Northwest Tree Octopus. Now, when you search for it, Wikipedia has a page indicating the website is a hoax.

some others I have used are

- [thedogisland.com](http://thedogisland.com)
- [dhmo.org](http://dhmo.org) (although this one is being outed by Wkipedia as well)
- [fulkerson.org/ancestors/buyanancestor.html](http://fulkerson.org/ancestors/buyanancestor.html) (buy ancestors online)
- [allaboutexplorers.com](http://allaboutexplorers.com) (looks SUPER real, encourages students to fact check, they say Christopher Columbus was born in 1951)
- The Onion
- [zapatopi.net/afdb/](http://zapatopi.net/afdb/) (Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanie)

Are these searches you have students do or resources you site as an educator?

Thanks for this! I heard about the All About Explorers site when I went to the CSD conference this summer. I am curious if anyone had created an activity guide to go along with this site. I find my students get way to goofy with the animals.

I created an activity guide that I am happy to share with anyone that is interested.

Thank you! I will use with my second period. Don’t want the first period to spoil it for them.
