Last year I came across a TV series on Apple Music called “Planet of the Apps.” There are ten 50-minute episodes that follow startup app developers who pitch their ideas to four celebrity mentors, and then work with them over six weeks to improve their designs and pitch to venture capitalists. It is a GREAT way to introduce the possibilities of app development while also emphasizing how young bedroom developers can make it big if their ideas are solid. It also shows the behind-the-scenes of iteration and problem-solving/design thinking. Preview the episodes for language/content (I skipped episode 1). There is also great minority representation. It’s hard to find since it was published under Apple Music, so search for it there!
