I also place students in a group with students that have different levels of problem solving skills. I also have assigned projects with problem solving and have suggested that they talk to their classmates and help each other to solve the problems.
I use this book of math puzzles for fun group problem solving activity
My students like to do the brain teaser problems. It is great for morning classes to get the energy up and great for afternoon classes to get them focused.

I group students, rotating them through the entire class so that they work with everyone at least once during the class. Each problem assigned has itβs own level of difficulty, so each student has the opportunity to work with others to solve it. This helps the ones who have difficulty problem solving to see how the others think to solve problems and they can learn from them.
