Welcome! Please introduce yourself

Hi, I am Iris Diaz, I live and work in Costa Rica teaching technology in grades 1-5. I think Code.org is great. I am excited about this online course and I expect to learn a lot.

Hi, my name is Linda Kozden and I have been teaching Computer Aided Design to grades 6 - 8 in New Jersey for six years. My Technology Dept colleague suggested that we should begin a Coding Club this year and I agreed. So here I am at Code.Org,

My favorite ice cream flavor is any Friendly’s junior sundae. :ice_cream:

Hey! My name is John B., and I live in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Our Media Specialist began teaching coding in our elementary school last year, and I’m interested in integrating some of those concepts into my classroom, and extending the work she began. This is my 19th year teaching, and I’m excited to get going with coding in my class!

I’m Richard Ingalls from the rural Missouri Ozarks region. I’ve been in Education and/or IT for the last 22 years, but this is my first year to teach a class on coding for middle school students. In the middle of my teaching career I took a 9 year hiatus to work in Healthcare IT until Obamacare caused massive layoffs and cutbacks in rural hospitals. I’m back to teaching again, which was my real professional passion anyway.

I’m looking forward to teaching coding to middle schoolers and also for learning from others who have already traveled this path with that age group (I’ve got 7th & 8th graders only for the coding course).

My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate and basically anything from Andy’s Frozen Custard (an Ozarks tradition).

Greetings all!

I am John Dalencourt, I am an engineer, I live in New York City, and I am currently working in the Mississippi Delta, to be more specific Helena, Arkansas.

I have decided to teach computer science because I was shocked to see the lack of technology in this area. There is a huge disparity between the delta, and New York City when it comes to technology let alone Computer Science.

I hope that I can make a difference.

Hi everyone!

I’m Christina, teaching in the Philippines. I’m a 4th grade teacher in an international school. As part of our Units Of Inquiry, one of the units we’ll be taking up is focused on Digital Media. I love the activities of code.org but feel like I need to have a better understanding of coding before introducing it to my grade.

Thanks!

Hi! My name is Lucy Wilcox, and I am the Media Coordinator at Parsley Elementary School in Wilmington, NC. This year, our schedule allows me to have a “club” meeting with 5th grade every Friday, so I have decided to tackle coding, something I have never been able to find time for. I originally thought I would try the Hour of Code, but when I looked into the curriculum further, I decided to try CS Fundamentals Course 2 instead. I will only have about 8 weeks with each class, but I am hoping if I can work with them through the first 6-8 lessons, they might get inspired and keep going, If I am understanding it correctly, they have the opportunity to create a game if they complete the whole course. Wouldn’t it be cool if they decided to keep going on their own?

Hello All  My name is Mistie Aistrop-Vanhook, and I teach technology K-5 at Ware Elementary in Staunton, VA. We have participated in the “Hour of Code” for the past several years, and I just want to know more.

I would like to be able to better serve my students with coding activities, and be able to best use my time with them teaching code

Here’s to happy coding
