I am a 67 year old retired nuclear engineer, that volunteers time to a local HS. I also have 6 grand kids that I help. I have developed (written using FORTRAN) computer codes for predicting thermal and nuclear interactions within a reactor. I have also used Visual Basic , and Visual “C” to graphically represent on power plant control panels what the FORTRAN codes predicted.
I also believe that Computer Science should not be considered a profession. Its more important to first or at least in conjunction with studding a primary field. A computer is JUST a tool that is used in many disciplines. I have never heard of studding slide rule, or calculator as a primary field of study.
