'15-'16 Lesson 5 - Sending Bits in the Real World

Looking over this lesson, I am planning on doing it over 2 days. The first for the video and related background materials and allow the students to start doing some research. On the second day, I will allow them to create the posters and do a gallery walk/presentation to share what they learned.

I am going to try having the students use Easel.ly instead of paper posters. I am also going to try having them turn in a draft, get comments, then revise as homework. This will be an individual project.

I can see this being either a 1 or 2 day lesson depending on the students and how easily they absorb the video and their access to resources to research for their posters. I like the comments above of various technologies to use rather than paper posters as we are doing a CS course. However, that makes it more difficult to do a gallery walk and I find that important for students to see other’s ideas and then extend their own thinking.

My students created a poster in GoogleDocs and that was a good graphic design lesson, too.
They felt more confident on computers than drawing on paper. Edits could be made easier. The research portion was still difficult as there was not always a simple way of finding data.

not a big thing,

the graphic for AM and FM at the bottom of the video are switched.

Mr. Ahn

Thanks for pointing that out. Its always helpful to have people give feedback. We will make note of it as a needed updated.

could someone give me a narrowed down list of digital sending devices which they have provided their students to choose from instead of giving them a little bit too much latitude to come up with an idea
