Slide # 21 about overriding the Object class equals() Method has some confusion language to me. I have attached a screen capture of the slide. At the bottom, the last sentence says the method has no parameters (in bold). It appears that (Object other) is the parameter? Is this incorrect or am I not understanding.
Hi Maureen,
Thanks for posting about this on the forum! I see your confusion, this looks like it is a mistake on the slide. I’ve alerted the curriculum team to change the materials. I would just delete that part about parameters on your slide deck for use in class. Or, you could change it to saying it has the same return type, same name, and same parameter- Having the same signature is a requirement to override a method.
Best,
Lindsay
