Reflecting on teaching data ethics :
How can you deepen students’ understanding of data ethics, bias, or interpretation in future lessons?
What strategies will you use to build a bridge between data skills and real-world applications?
These questions are just starting points for reflection and discussion—there’s no need to answer all of them. Focus on the ones that resonate most with your teaching experience and goals.
Strategies i would consider using to build a bridge between data skills and real-world applications would be having students share apps they use like Instagram to see the number of likes an image or reel has, snapchat or tik tok the number of days a streak is with a friend, sports apps that show performance, Canvas that tracks assignments turned in - and how using these apps help them make decisions.
Instagram - how many people like their reel or image, snapchat - how impressive it is to have a certain number of days you’ve communicated with someone, Canvas which assignments have been turned in and what their current grade is.
