Activities For Students Who Are Moving Quickly

I always have students who move through the lessons and mini-projects more quickly than others. Sometimes I will have those students do peer review while those who are not as quick will skip that. Sometimes I will have them add complexity to their mini-projects. But sometimes I get to a point where I think it might be good to have a task for them that is meaningful but not in the CSD lesson progression.

I’ve thought about having them search for articles about technology and summarizing them. I could then use them as sources for a “news you can use” lesson that I sometimes do to mix things up a little. Students read an article and then summarize it.

I have also thought about giving them Circuit Express lessons to work on when they are ahead.

Any other ideas?

John

Those are great ideas. I posted my Genius Block options for kids moving quickly or needed additional things to explore. Some of the links may be out of date now and I feel there are SO many more resources now (like Hour of Code or the AI units from Code.org).
