ASCII Specific AP Test question: What specifically should the student know about the ASCII table for AP?

Hi Everyone! I am finishing up Unit 1 and have a question about AP test preparation. What specifically should the student know about the ASCII table (other than it’s character are translated to decimal and then to binary)? For example: Do they have to know the 126 characters specifically?

Thank you in advance!

@jmularski Thanks for your question. Your students don’t need to memorize the ASCII table or know the 126 characters specifically for the AP exam. They should however, understand that the table is an abstraction where at its lowest levels, all digital data are represented by bits. It also uses binary to represent data we use to communicate.
