Can you link Game Lab and App Lab?

If a student creates a multi-screen project in App Lab but wants to connect it to a game they made in Game Lab, is it possible to merge the two projects together? If not, is there a way to create a link to Game Lab project within App Lab? I have students working on their final projects and they want to be able to show what they have learned in both environments. Right now the only workaround I’ve seen is to display the link to the other project and have the user copy and paste it into their browser. I’m hoping there’s an easier, more streamlined way! Thanks.

Hi @agrant,

You can create a button that opens the link to the Game Lab game. Like this. Will that work?
Sounds like a fun project!

Hello,

I had used this example for students a couple years ago but it doesn’t look like it’s working anymore. Do you have another example? I’d like to use this for CSP students who are working on a project in App Lab but may want to link to something else they created in Game Lab.

Hi @agrant,

I think you are asking about the “open url” control like this updated version? Will this work?

Hello, I had started the thread with this question a couple of years ago (and it worked, thank you!). Now I am wondering if you can do this in reverse - in other words, once you have linked to Game Lab, is there a way to link back to App lab? I don’t see an “open url” in Game Lab so I’m hoping there’s another way. Thanks again!

@agrant,

I am unaware of any way to link to App Lab (or anywhere else) from a GameLab project. Hopefully someone who may have done this before will see this and comment, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Game Lab project with a link.

I did check in with some code.org employees and they confirm there is no documented way to do it and they don’t know if there is a way (even if undocumented).
