CSA-Alt U2L6 (or anywhere you talk about/review conditionals)

I did a hilarious warm up today (we teach this as a 1 semester course), and thought y’all might enjoy trying it out. Students had to design (on the whiteboards) a flowchart to explain to an adult when it is/is not appropriate to use a gen Z slang term (each group chose a different term). Here’s the outline of the task.

If anyone else needs some levity - they were all into it. (I take no responsibility for derailing your class with laughter.) The task outline below:

Create a Decision-Making Flowchart

Your flowchart must:

  1. Start with:
“Should I use the term ‘____’?”

  2. Include at least:

    • 4–6 decision diamonds

    • Yes/No branches

    • At least one compound condition (AND / OR)

    • At least one “Do NOT use it” ending

  3. Clearly define:

    • Who can say it

    • When it’s appropriate

    • When it’s awkward/cringe

    • What it actually means

  4. End every path with:

    • :white_check_mark: Use it correctly (include example sentence)

    • :cross_mark: Do NOT use it

    • :warning: Proceed with caution

I love this idea, thanks for sharing!

We need a little levity right now! Thank you for the share!
