I teach CSD Unit 6 as a 12-week (one trimester) elective with my eighth-grade students. I typically use the circuit playgrounds. On any given trimester, I have 2 or 3 ASL students. The lessons involving sounds does not work for my deaf students. Has code.org developed any alternative lessons?
I have not used the micro:bits option for the unit. Would that be a better choice for those students?
I don’t believe there are alternative lessons for hearing impaired students. That is something you could definitely suggest via support - choose “I’d like to request a feature” in the dropdown.
I think you could make either board work but the mircro:bit has more visual options because you can create text on the screen. You would also need to skip all of lesson 14 with the Circuit Playground (the Making Music lesson). Although the micro:bit can make sound, I don’t think there is a lesson that focuses solely on sound.
Perhaps others who have had similar situations will also comment.
