Hi CSP teachers -
My class recently started on the Create Task and I’ve been unable to determine just how much help that I’m allowed to give them, if any (other than technology issues). The only guidance that I’ve been able to find in the official course and exam description from College Board says:
“Teachers may not:
write, revise, amend, or correct student work, including debugging the program, writing or designing functionality in the program, testing the program, or making revisions to the program;”
However, this does not refer to just general help and advice. For example, if a student is struggling to figure out how to store an unknown amount of user inputs as variables, can I suggest that they use an array? Can I explain to them how arrays work if they are still struggling with that idea? These things don’t fit under “writing or designing functionality” since I’d merely be giving advice and educating the student on vital skills.
I feel that the College Board document is not explicit and is missing this important aspect of the teacher’s role. Yes or no on this type of thing???
If anyone has a better understanding about this, I’d love to hear it. Thanks!
