EQ: EQ: How do I enhance my Dreamweaver web page?
Lesson: Web Design
Materials: Network, Notebook-Vocabulary, Internet Explorer (or browser of choice), Dreamweaver, Flash software
Objective: Students will begin to discuss web design components. Students will discuss and explore the software (Internet Explorer, Dreamweaver and Flash software). Students will continue to explore using the internet for research (cont.). Students will discuss how software is used together while reflecting on problem solving and design skills. Student will continue to collaborate on research and design plans while learning the software. (html ). Students will continue to enhance web site by adding images and links as needed by exploring the Dreamweaver tools and comparing the split design and code windows.
Considerations
What is the activator in today’s lesson? Web Activity
Quality Plus Teaching Strategies in today’s lesson? Modeling and Practice Collaboration
What factors of engagement am I using today? Discussion, navigation, software and internet interaction
What will be the evidence of learning today? – Formative - Observation of students: use of workstation, software, network/internet navigation, and use of vocabulary.
What will be differentiated? Process
I am basing my decision on my students’: Readiness
I use this lesson to teach web design with Dreamweaver. Students learn the HTML along side the design windows together as they add text, graphics, and links!
Our plan engages students. Encompases various software for the students to explore.

I will work on HTML coding. I will introduce students to the concepts and then have them create a project that meets certain criteria as their culminating assessment.
Kathy Krohnert (me) Renee Smith, and Leah Dee Kilgore will be working on HTML day 6-7 and 14. We are using Dreamweaver to teach and compare HTML to the design version of Dreamweaver.
I am using htmldog.com as suggested by another teacher at our training. My students love it and have taken off without any input from me. I plan to leave them alone to create a website of their own.
Overview
Provide a general overview the lesson. Include teaching tips here, if any. This took place over 9 days.
I taught the coding lessons. I challenged students to work through the beginning of Codecademy HTML and CSS course. This allowed them to self-pace and differentiated learning for students. After a few days, I showed students some intro videos on Khan Academy and offered students the option of using Khan Academy instead. At the end of the time, students created individual webpages about any topic that interested them.
Lesson Summary
1 - Students create codecademy accounts and work through the beginning of HTML & CSS course. I circulate and help students as needed. Students help each other often too.
2 - Students view videos to reinforce skills.
3 - Students choose codecademy or Khan Academy to continue to learn with.
4 - Students use Editey to create webpages through Google Drive; share them with me.

Besides using the attached document as a guide we:
Found websites we liked.
Opened and looked as the source code and identified how the links were coded.
Identified the similarities and differences to distill what was needed to make a link work and what was added to give it ‘style’.
Practiced replicating what was needed to create a working link and experimented with adding ‘style’ components to the basic required HTML code, this included looking into CSS stylistic additions.
(Note: How to do the basics is outlined in the lesson guide which is a self-paced student version of the lesson design outlined in version 6 of the ECS curriculum).
I have selected the lessons for days 8-10. I want to focus on the difference between style and content and help the students understand the three different ways to change style in a website.
We will work more on images. Students are slowly learning the value of creating and developing their own images rather than repurposing cookie cutter content from the web.
