Unit 1 Lesson 6: Processing

Every semester when I teach Unit 1 Lesson 6: Processing, I get frustrated that it’s too obscure a concept for my 6th graders. Is there any other way to explain the 4 types of processing? Maybe a video? I didn’t see anything on the forum.

Hi @rehel,

My favorite videos are from Code.org’s series How Computers Work. You have probably seen the video in the lesson plans at the beginning of Chapter 2 “What Makes a Computer a Computer?”. You may have seen the other videos in the series? They are quite good at explaining computers and how they work! This video in the series is probably closest to the processing topic. Because this lesson is focusing on the idea that processing is “whatever a computer does to turn inputs into outputs”, I think the videos have some excellent examples.

Hope this helps,
~Michelle
