I simply adore the fact that we can create the things that our students may be very interested in while they are engaging themselves in the academic arena.
There are some really fun ways to engage students with graphs and charts. A fun bell ringer I’ve used before is to project a chart or graph and have students backward design the questions/answers the creators of the chart asked to get those results and were the results what they predicted? Based on the answers what story were they trying to tell - did their questions do the job?
