Language of 1st course for kids

Hello

I live in France.

I was interested in the courses here because some were supposed to be available in French and because it was aimed at children.

The very 1st course for kids is a very useful video about Internet Neighborhood.

Problem: the video is proposed only in English and in Spanish in the course (supposed to be in French).

However, a quick search let me find an equivalent video, with the same content and the same title (although of a quite lesser quality…) in French here.

The next lesson is a presentation, also only in English.
I don’t understand how it works. Why the French version of the video is not properly linked when the course is supposed to be for a French kid and it is available ?

How can I fix this, and how could I replace the English presentation by a French translation for my course (and, maybe, make it available to other French teachers…) ?

Thank you for your clarification.

Best regards
Michell

Hi @michel.gre,

I’m sorry you are having difficulties; however, I am not sure you are using Code.org curriculum. I do not think the video you posted is a part of CS Discoveries. Can you link the curriculum you are using so we can better answer your question?

Thank you,
Michelle

Hi Michelle

Thanks.

This is the lesson here: Course A (2024) - Code.org

Very 1st lesson for young kids about online security, that I find very useful.
It is the “French” page but the video is in English. 8 years old French kids learn English but they are not able to understand that.

However the translated video, in French, is, as I said, not in CS Discoveries. I am completely new here and I don’t know how all the thing work, it is a bit complicated even for an IT person, but it would be cool to add the French version of the video to the course since it’s a French course.

Michel

Thank you for the link. I think the best option would be to make a request to Code.org designers and creators. You can do that HERE. Choose “I’d like to request a feature” in the drop down,
Best wishes -

Hi Michelle.

Thank you. I will try that. We’ll see.

Have a nice day !

Hi Michelle

So that’s what I did. But obviously they didn’t really understand the question. Their answer was just to activate subtitles translation, which for some reason doesn’t work in a browser. So I will not try to move the mountains but just silently give up.
Thank you anyway and have a nice day.
