Module 5, Level 29 - Wrap-Up

My original goal was; “My goal with this course is to learn more about AI and how to use it. I would like to integrate it into my day to day teachings and see how it can assist me in becoming more efficient with my work.” I feel I’ve achieved my goal, I have more knowledge now on how AI can be used. I would still like to learn different ways AI can be used. I particularly liked the “prompts” you can use to have AI work for you at a different level that I didn’t know existed. My next steps would be to stay informed about AI. Now that I’ve taken the course, I’m not afraid to use AI anymore. I feel more comfortable about it and look forward to integrating it into my day to day life.

My OG goal: " would like to learn the basics but also just the very diverse types and free resources out there for AI. I want to be aware of the big contenders and how they are developed and being utilized."
I honestly did not get as much out of this as I had hoped as I guess I knew more than I thought I did. I did get more AI resources and learned a little more about the different types of learning modules out there for different AI systems. However, I do not feel like it went as deep as I was hoping into the development of the algorithms. The idea that they can be biased, why they are biased, and how we have to be aware of that bias was the biggest focus in these modules and I was hoping for more technical information about the interworkings of AI. So I guess that’s what I still want to learn. The next steps are to maybe find a more technically orientated class on AI.

My goal was to expand my knowledge and understand basic AI concepts and terminology. I achieved various tools and resources to have for my class and l have a better understanding in AI concepts and terminology . I want to take more professional development related to AI to enhance my knowledge.

In the beginning, my goal was to understand AI and how to use it appropriately for myself and my students. Another goal was to provide effective strategies and information to my students so that this tool is used to improve their education and teach them how not to abuse the situation.
What I achieved is having a greater understanding of AI and how it works. I learned a lot of different websites that I can introduce to my students such as Magicschool. I would like to continue to learn about identifying fake news, and how to teach AI to my students to help them have an understanding of how to utilize AI properly. My next step is to continue to explore AI websites and their functions to be able to implement them in my classroom.

My goals for this course were pretty basic, I wanted to learn enough to stay ahead of the curve with regards to my students. I also wanted to start using generative AI to help create and modify content. I have been able to achieve both these things. What has been crazy is with each new application and learning I only want to learn more. I am not overly interested in how it works, but knowing this helps guide me in the using of AI. There are so many tasks that we talked about in class that I have not had the chance to play and explore, so there is much more to learn. I am hoping to find some other teachers in my building that also have a passion for this and want to learn more and perhaps offer some lessons and support to get people excited. I want to look into more of the image creation tools, being in forensic science I think being able to create appropriate pictures to go with lessons would be great. I also want to look into using AI as a tutor or debate opponent for my students, this will force them to learn and use the information. I will be continuing to use AI and looking at the new chatbots to weigh their benefits. I am also looking into the perks of a paid account to help with my journey.

I learned a lot more than I thought I would in this course. I am familiar with AI and have learned a lot about it in my doctoral program. I still would like to have a better technical understanding of how AI is programmed, and I would like to give it a try myself. I am going to continue my doctoral research on human and computer interaction as it relates to AI and continue to strive to be a better teacher of AI and technology to my students.

I learned so much during this PL. I did learn how to use AI to make some of the mundane tasks of an educator easier. I did dip my toe in using Magic School AI. I loved the platform, but I have so much more to learn about it. There are so many ways to use it to make my life easier. My next steps are to become more fluent when using AI platforms and teaching my students about AI. When I went to the ISTE website, I found lessons to introduce elementary students to AI.

my goal was to learn how to use AI to make my job easier, like putting together lesson plans. I’ve learned that and much more. I know how to ask AI questions and how to keep taking a topic further. I still want to learn more ways to use AI in my classroom, I also want to use more AI programs besides the few I have used. My next step will be to teach about AI and its guiding principles.

My goal was to “learn more about AI to keep up with changing technologies and find strategies for teaching my students how to use AI responsibly.” Attaining my goal has been a beneficial use of my time as this is a topic that will only become more prevalent as it becomes more pervasive in our lives. I achieved my goal by learning about different AI tools, and the ways to encourage student learning that use AI as a tool but not as a replacement for their thinking skills. I still want to know how to write amazing tutor or mentor prompts to be specific for the subject/lesson I am teaching. My next steps will be to hope the Gemini pilot program in my district will launch the next stage where we can have students working with Gemini, not just teachers.

My goal when I started this course was to learn more about AI and the tools that are available to educators. I feel I accomplished that goal and so much more. Learning about different issues AI presents, such as bias, will be invaluable to me as I begin to integrate AI into my classroom. I think my next steps are to begin creating lessons to use with my students using AI technologies available to us.

My original goals were: 1. To understand the tools at my disposal and the best uses for them.

  1. Find ways to save time by using these tools.

  2. To start integrating AI into the actual classroom with students instead of just for my preparation.

I think I have made progress towards all of my goals. I better understand how the tools work and have some new ones to try out. With the practice opportunities I can use them more efficiently and have new applications to try to save me time moving forward. I also feel like I have a blueprint to start using AI with students. I would like to learn more about the various tools available. I was not able to fully explore all of the options in the course and I have seen other options. The next steps for me are to continue refining my use of the tools and start integrating them into my lessons.

I feel like I achieved the basic building blocks for the goals that I had set in my response. I am much more comfortable in what I still do not know, knowing that through use and application, collaboration with others, and literacy and use instruction for students, those varied perspectives will help to shed light and understanding on what else I will need to learn about. The tools provided to support building policies and guiding students in their appropriate usage of these technologies are incredibly helpful in pushing back against teachers who would scoff at the mere mention of AI.
Currently, I still want to learn more about specific ways to use the myriad tools presented to us over this course, but most of that comes down to practice, trial, and error. The second bookmark folder on my bookmarks bar is AI Resources (Library Bookmarks is first). Being able to revisit so many of these tools, having the guidance to return to, and having finally dipped my toes in should help me avoid feeling so overwhelmed moving forward, which will help me further my own understandings.
My next steps will be to translate these modules into some staff development sessions to drum up interest. I think if we can get a cadre of people together to work on applications and actually pilot some attempts, we might be able to convince a broader swath of the staff to take the plunge. Beyond that, I plan on inviting classes in and hosting workshops for interested students on ways to use AI to enhance their learning responsibly and appropriately. I feel like many of them, especially at my school, would be receptive to it.

I do believe I have found good prompt resources and lesson ideas by going through this learning experience. I still want to learn how I can integrate A.I as a tool without the temptation for students to rely on it too much.

I want to follow new trends and advancements in A.I and see how it can apply to aiding student learning in the classroom.

My initial goal was to learn how AI can facilitate classroom ease and enable students to challenge themselves. I learned that AI has a variety of opportunities to differentiate classroom instruction and ease some mundane tasks. I also learned that AI is always adapting and needs information validation. I want to learn more about empowering students to be critical thinkers and look to AI as a guide and not a tool that can provide the correct answer. My next steps include more exploration. I want to investigate different AI tools and learn how to guide students in creating questions.

“I’d like to find out if there are other ways of using AI that I’m not already familiar with to continue supporting and challenging my students”
I found resources that I can use to set up AI environments for my students as well as a prompt to create AI mentors for my students. I want to learn more about neural networks and how it works from a technical stance, not just high level metaphors or examples. Next step is to introduce the mentor to my students, explore the different resources like magicAI further to determine which, if any of these, I will bring to my classroom, and ask AI some questions about neural networks to gain a better understanding.

My original goals for this course were to learn more about AI and especially how I could use AI as an educator to make may job easier. I feel like I accomplished this goal and learned even more than expected. Understanding how AI works, the limitations, the bias inherit in it’s data; understanding how AI can be wrong and the ways AI can put student data at risk, how to use AI in a responsible manner: are all factors I had not thought much about before taking this course.

One of my goals was to learn more about AI and why it is so important for teachers, librarians, school staff be informed and provide a safe, responisible approach to use of AI with students in a variety of ways. My ultimate goal was to look at ways AI can be used with students as they work with the school garden. I am hoping to take the information gathered and use it to make a plan for AI use in the garden similar to the AI Guidance created for schools.

I wanted to learn more about AI and how to introduce it to my students so they can use it ethically and responsibly. I discovered that AI has several advantages. For example, it can help users stay on track and quickly access highly relevant information. However, I also learned that AI has drawbacks. It can funnel a conversation into a fixed path, leaving little room for organic tangents or broader perspectives, and it can make mistakes or provide misleading information. AI should serve as a starting point for curiosity, not the sole path for inquiry.
