Names of classes

I am wondering if any of you who use CS Discoveries or Principles have created a different name for the actual class in your scheduling to catch student’s attention. I would like to use the programs but putting those names on the schedule for students to choose as electives does not create interest. Anybody have any ideas for other names that would sound more appealing to students?

In our state, we have two different classes that use parts of the curriculum that i like.

CSI - Computer Science Investigations and Creative Coding.

I like CSI, but creative coding was the first one offered and tends to currently be a pretty good name to catch students.

I know there are a lot of schools around here using the word “gaming” in their class titles to garner interest.

@edavis,

The only thing I don’t like about that is that kids think they are taking a class to play games and that deemphasizes the Computer Science and the computational thinking side of things. But it does attract some kids.
