Updates for New APCSA?

The College Board has publicized the changes to CSA: Future AP Computer Science A Revisions – AP Central | College Board

Will code.org be updating the APCSA curriculum to incorporate the changes? When will those updates be published? My district wants to incorporate any changes into our materials and we need a timeline of when they will be made.

Thanks for any information that anyone can provide!

@matt_s_mclaughlin Hi Matt, thanks for posting your question. As I suspected, there are several users wondering when this may occur. I have responded to this question in this thread - 2025-26 Syllabus

Hello →
When is code.org’s release date for the revised materials for the new 2025 CS A course?
–Mr Mike Kolody

@mdkolody - the new CSA course will be released on May 30th.

I really appreciate that inheritance is still present, even if it is no longer assessed. I’m checking out the CED aligned version and noticed it has less resources that the Object First version (which is much more similar to this year’s course than the CED aligned). Like it’s missing the Unit Guides.

I’m wondering if those will come out later or if I should come up with my own from the pieces in the Objects First version. Does anyone know if more materials will be released?

@julie.kirkpatrick - thank for posting your observations. I haven’t had a chance to review the new course. I will pass your feedback along to the curriculum team.

I notice that there are no Unit Guides for each lesson or unit, and also that there are no assessments at the end of or within each unit. There are only practice AP test questions in Unit 5. Will these be added soon? I was planning to start with Unit 1 Lesson 1 on Monday 8/11. I would like to use the CED version as it will be much cleaner when I go back and forth between code.org and AP Classroom. If the CED version isn’t ready with unit guides and assessments, then I will need to use the Object curriculum.

I’m echoing others’ questions about assessments and unit guides in the CED version of CSA. I’m on a 4 by 4 schedule, so I finish the whole curriculum this semester– so getting an answer soon is important for me. Thanks– Tim

Any news from Code.org on this? I looked all over for a Unit Guide. We started school and if there are more resources, it would be great to have it. – Ginny

I have Unit 1, Lessons 1 -7 note guide and the Unit 1 Slides (updating as I go)

Note guide: CSA Unit 1 Lesson 1 - 7 Guide (2025-2026) - Google Docs

Slides: Unit 1 Slides - Google Slides

I would use what’s in AP Classroom. That is aligned to the CED.

Me too…luckily i dont start until Jan. Let’s hope that have the kinks ironed out by then!

@vlistman1 @sruffer @julie.kirkpatrick - thank you for posting to the forum. I understand the concern. If you did not know, Code.org is now offering a course that is aligned with the CED. Please let us know if this helps with your classes.

I do know there is a new curriclum, the issue is that it is missing a lot of things such as unit tests

@sruffer Thanks for the updated. I have inquired about assessments.

Please report any other issues to support@code.org. I will take a closer look at the new course and report any issues that I discover.

@sruffer - Unfortunately, the CED aligned CSA course will not be posting any assessments. I will be using AP Classroom to help me create them for my classes.

I wonder why. All of the questions are already created from last year’s version, isnt it just a matter of putting them in the right place?

I am using the CED Aligned version of Code.org’s curriculum and I am finding that the exercises are showing students code that is beyond the scope of what has been taught in class so far. I feel this is coming from Code.org taking previous exercises say in Unit 7 from last year’s curriculum and plugging it into Unit 1 of the realigned version. I could be wrong, but that is what it feels like.

Are there any solutions to this?

I am trying to think of ways to harness the sandbox to have students code based on the content we have covered so far.

Any ideas would be great!
