Hello. I am Amy Holzenberg and I teach sixth grade earth & space science at Silver Trail Middle in Pembroke Pines, Florida. This will be my tenth year in my second career and I love it.
I am looking forward to this workshop because I am hesitant about incorporating technology due to the overwhelming choices of learning systems, programs, & apps.

See you on Monday !!

Jessica - I am on the same page as you. I think my students are so much more receptive than I am.
See you on Monday!

Hi, Christopher, I teach the STEM program as well in more emphasis on Science. I am looking forward to implementing more coding into my curriculum.

Hi
My name is Chantal, I teach 7th and 8th grade science at Edgewood Junior High in Ellettsville Indiana. Iā€™m relatively new to teaching, having spent several decades in the world of environmental science (planning and permitting). Iā€™m looking forward to getting up to speed in computer coding (my previous experience was back in the day of Fortran and Hypercard). Happy to meet you all.

Hi, my name is Kim, I am a gifted specialist in Phoenix, Arizona. I teach 4th,5th and 6th grade gifted students. I have been a teacher for 19 years, but this is my third year as the gifted specialist. My past experiences with coding are limited to taking classes, offering hour of code to students in grades Kindergarten - Sixth grade, and introducing code to my students. I am looking forward to learning more and being able to introduce my students to a world of possibilities with coding.

Hello, my name is Juan Ruiz and I have taught for four years. I teach math, science, and ESOL reading at Sunrise Middle school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This past year I taught 8th graders math and science, while the ESOL reading class was made up of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. However next year I will probably teach 6th graders. My undergraduate was in Anthropology, however I started my college education as a Computer Science major at Georgia Tech. I used to work as a network administrator. Currently I am the Robotics coach at my school. I tried to take the CS for Middle School course, but somehow I didnā€™t get in. Though I am excited about what I have seen in the course introduction.

Hi Nicole, I substituted at Glades Middle School for about half a year before I got a permanent position the next year. I filled in for Ms. Lostumbo in Language Arts for a quarter and had a blast with the kids! Is Mrs. Farkas still the chair in the science department over there? She was awesome. I love the hour of code, especially Light Bot!

Hi. My name is Janet Sweat. I am currently a teacher on assignment in Columbia County, Fl at district for k-12 science education. I have a MAE in science education from UF. I previously taught 6-8 science. My experience with computer science is limited. My father was a computer programmer, so I am comfortable with what can be done, but I have not implemented it myself. I will add that my students are usually able to teach me so much more than I learn on my own.

HI Christopher,
I am also a middle school science teacher. I admire your ability to bring so much STEM focused enrichment opportunities to your district.

Hello, my name is Leslie Preston and just finished my 12th year of teaching. I have taught 3rd, 5th and 6th grade. I also help to teach a before school elective coding course. I am excited about the opportunity of this class to improve my understanding of coding and also how to include it into my science curriculum.

My name is Jose Aguirre. I have taught for 4 years. I am currently at San Gorgonio Middle School in Beaumont CA. I obtained my teaching credential from Redlands University, and teach 7th grade mathematics. Iā€™ve taken a few CS courses at Riverside Community College in programming(C++ and JAVA).

Hello everyone! My name is Fallyn Smith and I live in Menifee California. I have 6 years of teaching under my belt, one in high school biology and the rest in 7th and 8th grade science. I currently teach at Lakeside Middle School in Perris California.

I have very limited experience with computer science. I have participated in the ā€œhour of codeā€ with my students a couple of times before although it was not during the ā€œweek of codeā€. I have also once used code.org to teach an after school enrichment course in javascript. I took it on without any PD or guidance, but I am here because I would like to continue to use code.org and continue to offer more to my students. I am excited to learn more and hope to become a pro at CS!

Hello, My name is LaToya, I am a mathematics teacher in Florida. I currently teach 7th grade, but spent the past 6 years in high school mathematics. This year in the middle school we are trying a math/science combo course, which should be very interesting as a avionics major I want to incorporate as much technology as possible for everyday discovery.

Hello to all! My name is Tomika Everett. I am a Chemistry/ESE teacher at Yulee High School. I have 6 years of teaching experience. Over the years I have noticed how education is constantly changing and evolving. As an educator it is very useful to adapt and grow professionally in education. I look forward to developing my skills in technology. Honestly, my technology skills are close to none. I hope to grow in this area in order to be a better teacher for my students. My students embrace technology whole heartedly.

Hello Fallyn. I am from FL. I noticed we have a few things in common. I have taught science for 6 years myself. I started out teaching Biology. I actually majored in Biology. I would like to develop as an educator in computer science as well to benefit by students.

Hi! I am Kim Wuellner. I work in northeast Florida. I work at the District level with K-12 math. I am a CS in Algebra facilitator and eager to learn more about how to expand coding in our schools.

My Name is Ruth Duncan and this will be my 8th year teaching at Callahan Middle School. I have taught math and science. I have a bachelors degree in Elem. Ed. and a Masters in Education to be a Science Teacher Leader. My Past experience with coding is limited to hour of code. I am looking forward to learning more about CS.

Just kidding! My name is Josh Proctor and I teach AP Physics at Molina HS in Dallas ISD. I am currently finishing a Masterā€™s Degree in Physics where I have had to learn some programming language in order to use Mathematica. I look forward to learning more, hopefully to get to a point where I can create my own physics simulations with which my students can interact (or teach them how to create their own!).
