Hello Shawn,

Welcome to the Code.org community! A great resources is the CS Fundamentals courses that are targeted for K-5. You might not be able to find a Workshop, but the lessons are online and there are great tutorials for getting your students started. Let me know if you have any other questions and again, welcome!

Hello -
I’m Ruth Arjona and I’m the Technology Coordinator at Bernice Ray School, a public K-5 school school in Hanover, NH.

Our school participated in the Hour of Code events and were extremely popular with students so much so that I now do a Beyond the Hour of Code sessions for our K-3 students. The code.org courses 1 & 2 are so well-designed that young kids totally get what coding is all about.

Hello, I’m Doug Urner, from Gig Harbor, WA (just the other side of the infamous Tacoma Narrow Bridge from Tacoma). I teach high school (ECS, photography, and publications) in the Highline district just south of Seattle. My school is an IB school with a highly diverse service area. We’re located between the north-south highway (I5) and the eastern shore of Puget Sound under the approach path to the Seattle airport – some of our students drive BMWs and Mercedes to school, some of our families don’t have a car and the only computer in the family is a smart phone.

I’m interested in connecting with teachers from IB schools and learning more about differentiating in classes with wide ranges of ability and prior knowledge. One of the burning questions for me is how to help my students identify their interests and incorporate those into their projects.

My favorite ice cream flavor is Cherry Garcia, except for the days when it is pistachio, or mango, or ginger…

Hi! My Name is Heather Wilson. I am a K-6 librarian in South Kitsap School District.
I started using Code.org two years ago when I introduced Hour of Code to ALL of my students. Now, I use the Code.org modules with all of my students during their library time. I am excited to learn more because I am moving to a STEM school next year. I would like to start a coding club to dive in a little deeper with interested students.

Hello!

My name is Stephanie Yetter and I teach in Livonia, Michigan which is right outside of Detroit. I currently teach a 2nd-4th grade self-contained cognitively impaired classroom. I am interested in being part of this community to see if any other special education teachers are using coding and if so, how are they using coding in their classroom. This school year is wrapping up and I want to start using coding as enrichment come the next school year. I hope that this will help teach my students a new skill that they could use for the future.

I have a dog named Shelby who I love and I drive a Jeep Wrangler and love taking it off road. In the summers I spend my time in Northern Michigan going boating, hiking, camping, and off roading at Silver Lake Sand Dunes!
