8th Grade lesson plans/projects for App lab

Hello everyone,

I am thinking of trying the Code.org App Lab with my 8th-grade computer education classes. So, I am looking for some advice or guidance on introducing the app lab to my students.

Here is some information about my class. I teach a computer education class and we meet every day for a 9 week period, and for 4 of the 9 weeks we work on programming. For the past two years these students have been working with Scratch building programs and games. So, they do have a good foundation when it comes to the basic principles of programming.

My hope is next year to do something different and have them work in the app lab building different apps they can use. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will probably want to check out the lesson plans available here: CS Principles for App Lab.

Since your students are familiar with Scratch, you may also want to try CS Discoveries.

Depending on your region, there may be opportunities for professional development. https://code.org/educate/professional-learning-2018

Happy computing,
Andrea
