How would you go about estimating this one?
How many different characters in all of the various languages in the world?
I do not recall using this question as more than a thought experiment. I have students think about the number of characters in languages they are familiar with and think about the challenges of typing in a language other than English using a standard keyboard. My school has a very diverse population so we can get into a interesting discussion. I find these articles very interesting.
