I was just curious as to why the Unit 2 Web Lab coding is text-based. I’m sure it would be a major overhaul to make it block based… but, with teaching this in middle school, and students using blocks in the following unit, I think it would make things work more smoothly…
That is a suggestion you could pass along to support@code.org.
I think that the html that is taught is fairly simple for the most part and a good way to ease them into text based programming. HTML is also more forgiving than javascript where if you leave out a punctuation mark such as a comma, things just may not work.
I’ve never seen any html coding block implementations before, but could be an interesting idea.
