Can students use pictures in written responses?

A student has asked if she can use a picture to help illustrate one of her written responses. I suggested she might be able to incorporate the picture into her artifact instead, but she doesn’t want to do that. I don’t see an explicit prohibition against pictures in the responses, but they are called written responses, so I believe the answer would be “no”.

Any opinions?

I agree with your reasoning. If the image helps, then it should be put in the artifact. Otherwise, I would limit the written responses to text only.
