Is anyone out there experiencing issues with the Code.org Maker App? I had previously had no problems with it but today when students click on Login with Google they get nothing but a blank page and the icon between the home and gearbox just spins. I wasn’t sure if it was the school’s filter or something on code.org’s end w/ google.
So I am currently on Unit 6 Lesson 3. Is there another way to get the circuit boards to be recognized other than through the app? Thanks for your help
I am now experiencing problems- log into google button is available. Since I used sync with Google this is preventing some student from even being able to reset their password. Please fix ASAP!
We just released an update to our Maker app that now embeds the “Login with Google” button within the app itself at the very top of the app. I just wrote a forum post with some screenshots that might be helpful - Update to Logging In with Maker App.
Your students should still be able to login with Google as before, but the button is just in a new place. Sorry for the momentary confusion!
Hey @tthomas ! Oh no! We think this might have to do with the version of the Maker App your students are using. Our latest release from March last year is 1.1.8 - can you verify that’s the version you’re using? You can find this in the Help menu of the app
Dan since removing the log in with Google button, it has caused a slow down and frustration on my students (not to mention slower pace/ more stress for the teacher) as the confirm code does not always become visible. Respectfully, I would you please put back the log in with google button?
Hey @tthomas - sorry to hear about the frustrations this has caused. Not sure if you saw this in our other post, but here’s some more information about why we made this change:
Why Did We Make This Change? Google has recently increased their security measures when using third-party apps (like ours!) to login with Google services. These steps allow us to continue using Google to login to the app, while also keeping your account information secure with Google’s new procedures.
We’re working on more improvements that will hopefully make this process easier, but unfortunately we’re still forced to leave the Google button disabled and use the “generate a code” method instead - otherwise, we’d have to stop using Google logins entirely.
We’re definitely open to hearing other ways we can improve the experience though. If you have any other feedback on the process or places where we could add little tooltips or explanations to help students out, let us know and we can see what improvements we can make.
