We have come to the point where we will be doing distance learning, and because I cannot send home Circuit Playgrounds to continue in Unit 6 as we were sharing them between two students, I thought I would have them continue to code using the Hour of Coding resources. How do I assign, for example, Dance Party to a class in Coding?
Hi @delilah.heil, You can do that from your dashboard. You first locate the gear icon next to your course name.
Then, select “Edit Section Details”
Then, you will be able to select the course you want to assign.
You can find more details if necessary at support.code.org
Best wishes! I know things are crazy. I start online teaching with my students tomorrow and we’re all in this together!

@mwood @delilah.heil thanks for the posts because I had the same question!
I am in the same place as Ms. Heil. I followed the instructions posted and it looks like my CS Discoveries course will be replaced with the hour of code course. Will all student work and progress be saved for my Discoveries course? (I am hoping to be able to switch back whenever we are able to meet in person again.)
Thank you!!!
Kacie
Yes, @krea, their work and progress will be saved. You can even still see progress in one course while they are assigned a different one. I just logged into my account changed an old class and verified that, so you don’t need to worry about losing work!
thanks,
Mike
To piggyback on this conversation, for those who are in states that will not meet again until the fall: there will likely be a new version of CSD released in the summer. Make sure you’re still in the 2019-2020 version if you want to keep the students’ progress, because it differentiates by course version (so if you made progress this year, it would not carry over to next year’s version).
