I had the students create a data collection about the upcoming election. They could explore any related topic and ask any appropriate question. The students asked questions and collected the data. They worked in groups of four and had to create a presentation of their findings to present to the class.
If planning to do something similar give students parameters about sites to use. Also, go over credible sources.

I chose Days 1 - 3 and have created an extension to this activity that introduces them to spreadsheets and how to use them to organize, analyze and present data.
