Indiana CS Law (HEA 1243)

Any Indiana Teachers…

A new law was just passed in the recent legislation sessions that is aiming to have CS requirement for HS students by 2029. I know it’s early but our school is already looking at the implications of this. Currently, I just teach code.org to our junior high instead of a focused computer applications class. This means all the students are required to take CS in junior high.

Does anyone know if any of the code.org program will fulfill the CTE requirements in Indiana? As I said, I know it’s early, but we are starting that process now.

Thanks!

Hi @dbroersma! We at Nextech (https://nextech.org/) are working on course alignment options to support the new Indiana 4565 course using the code.org curriculum. We will be having two webinars ( Monday, August 26, 2024 at 12:00 PM and Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 7:00 PM ET) over this course, check back here (Computing Foundations for a Digital Age – Nextech) for registration details or email teachers@nextech.org

-Side note - I am going to create a topic on this forum specific to the 4565 course.
