Hello CSP community. Generally speaking, how much time do you allot for Make projects? Code.org’s lesson plans usually suggest 45 minutes. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi Aaron,
I usually give students more time than one class period for them. I have found that the EIPM sequence of 4 lessons for a topic fits well into a 5 day week:
Explore on Monday
Investigate on Tuesday
Practice and Make Wednesday - Friday.
We do a lot of work together on Monday and Tuesday, and then the 3 following days are more independent/ work in pairs or small groups.
Best,
Lindsay
It depends on the students, your experience, and the level. As I have been using the platform for some time, I can recognize areas where code.org doesnt allow for enough proactice or where students get stuck. This is where I flex the free play levels to meet my requirements. So a level like Text in interactive animations and games may say it takes 45 min. It doesnt. It takes 25-30 so I added a free play requirement that reviews previously learned skills and skill that students struggle with at this point. Like variables, stroke, shapes, the order of things and comments.
