I have my 8th grade class working on creating a machine learning app (unit 7). They’re working on their questions for the survey but I think I need some clarification.
The survey questions that will be used to train the machine learning model are not the same questions that will require user input on the app, correct? They can be but are not required to be is how I’m understanding it.

I am assuming you are on Lesson 18 in Unit 7. I believe the questions will be mostly the same. The lesson plans state that questions should be, “related to their label question”. And in lesson 21 activity 2 when you are building the app, the instructions state, “Update the text of each feature to match the question from the survey.” These features were generated when you loaded the model in activity 1. I suppose there could be questions not related to the survey but they wouldn’t be functional in the ai model. Did this answer your question? Let us know if not!

I’m excited about seeing their work come to fruition but I want to be cautious so their questions are actually going to be useful. Fingers crossed!
