My motivation for this course is to teach young people about the risks they face on the internet, motivate them to be cautious with the information they share, and teach them the basics of protecting themselves while surfing the web.
I am interested in teaching Cybersecurity and Global Impacts in order to help students stay safe online, and to help students protect their personal data online (and I do teach a Cybersecurity course for the Security+ 701 exam)
The advances in machine-human interaction result in more useful tools but also more dangerous ways of stealing, misusing or corrupting information. Since data is becoming an increasingly important asset, It is compulsory to teach youger students how to protect themselves against the more elaborated threats they face nowadays. Also, they should learn so they can help their families. Ethics and security are somewhat forgotten in many cases and I hope these courses can help fix that issue.
I want to teach cybersecurity because it is an essential skill for students living in a digital world. Every day, they use technology to learn, communicate, and create, so they need to understand how to protect their personal information, recognize online risks, and make responsible decisions.
Teaching cybersecurity is not only about technology—it is also about developing critical thinking, digital citizenship, and ethical decision-making. I hope to help students become confident, informed, and responsible digital citizens who can use technology safely and thoughtfully throughout their lives.
After reviewing a privacy policy, I realized how important it is for both educators and students to understand what happens to their personal data when using digital tools. Privacy policies can be long and difficult to read, but they contain valuable information about what data is collected, how it is used, and who it may be shared with.
As educators, we should encourage students to develop the habit of reviewing these policies and thinking critically about the technologies they use. Digital literacy includes not only knowing how to use technology but also understanding the responsibilities and privacy implications that come with it.
