Unit 5 Days 1-3: Initiate


To engage my students in the Big Data concept, I would introduce the topic with a clip from CSI Cyber to allow them to see how data is used to tell a story. I would require my students answer the following questions about data to help them understand the difference between data and big data…
What is the purpose of data?
Who uses data?
What are the implications of data collected?
How much data has to be collected to be considered “big data”?

My students would share their responses with their peers to form a group definition of big data.


This is really good. When I taught this chapter, I used data from the PEW Research Center to introduce data to my students.


I will create a lesson that will focus on Bubble Charts.
