Welcome! Please introduce yourself

Hello, I am Logan and I teach Technology to 5th and 6th graders at Sidney Middle School in Ohio. I am interested in getting myself more computer science literate because I did not go to school to teacher tech, I went for math and science but I was hired to do this and I have always love technology so I thought I would give it a shot. I love it!

Hi I’m Jasmine from Perth WA. I’m a Teacher Librarian and IT Teacher at a Secondary College. I’m new to code.org but my students have been absolutely loving it, so I thought I would develop my own skills a little while I’m at it
Looking forward to getting started.

My name is Nataša Majstrović.
I am from Serbia. I teach computer science in primary school Zmaj Jova Jovanović in Ruma. Ruma is small town near capitol Belgrade. My students are from 11-15 years old. I like to do new things with my students. I want to show them that coding is fun.

Hi,
Jerri Bedwell
I live in Hercules, CA and work in San Pablo. I am a fourth grade 1st year teacher. I am interested in learning as much as I can to offer as many opportunities to my students as I can.
Looking forward to it all,

Hi Computer Science Teachers! My name is Mary Wunderlich. I am the K-6 Library Media Specialist and Tech Coordinator for Thetford Elementary School in Vermont. I have enjoyed introducing students to the Hour of Code since 2013. Each year more resources are available and the students are always so engaged. I usually start my Hour of Code lessons a few weeks before the official week, so that students are comfortable and we can avoid any issues with possible slow downs, especially videos during the “official” week. This year I will have a community volunteer helping out one day. Good luck to everyone!

My name is Tami Newell, and I am a Reading Specialist at Andalusia Elementary in Andalusia, Illinois. We are a small district with our building hosting all the 3rd through 5th grade students for the district – about 250 students. In addition to my reading classes, I have spent a great deal of time building our technology offerings for our building. Three years ago, we had 3 desktop computers at the back of each classroom and little more. Now, we have projectors, AppleTVs, and an iPad for each classroom. Last year, we recycled the old high school computers and some extra tables to create a computer lab for the building in a storage space. This was such a positive move that the principal allowed me to begin teaching technology classes for 20 minutes for each class on Fridays. Our computers were old and unreliable and our tables were small and saggy though. I wrote some Donors Choose projects over the summer, and we now have a nice computer lab with a class-set of Chromebooks, new tables, carpet, storage, and paint. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to introduce students to new technologies and am hoping to be able to try some coding with them soon.

My name is Rebekah Baker (professionally, I recently got married and I am waiting for it to change to Rebekah Snyder)
I live and work in wonderful Apache Junction, AZ
I teach a group of amazing fourth graders.
My husband is currently attending ASU and majoring in computer science/information technology so I want to be able to have conversations with him without having a glazed over look on my face.
I tried to upload a picture, but I think I did it wrong! Haha.
Last question was about my favorite ice cream flavor. I love ice cream, but I have to have it with a side of lactaid, as I have a sever digestive milk allergy. But I suffer through because almond milk ice cream isn’t the same!

Hi my name is Devin O’Brien and I am teaching a Coding class we just started in 7th-8th grade. I work for North Franklin School District in Connell. I am wanting to reach out to other educators for ideas and suggestions about what they do in their classrooms. There are no other teachers for me to talk or meet with during PLC’s, so I was hoping to find someone to correspond with occasionally.

I am new to CS, but am having fun teaching Coding to students. I find them to be really engaged and interested. So far we have been using Code.org and Scratch.mit.edu for most of our work and projects.

If anyone is interested in corresponding to me every once in awhile or sharing some ideas that work well with middle school students I would be very interested. My email is dobrien@nfsd.org. Thanks!

My name is Francisco Marques, and I was a higher education professor for 16 years. Now I am IS/IT manger at the Portuguese Competition Authority. I live in Alcochete, a small village near Lisbon. I have two children with 11 years old, and I am teaching Computer Science to them.

I’m really excited to work with my children and they are very curious about code and Computer Science in general.

Hello, my name is Luis Martos. I am a technology teacher at a K-5 school in East Orange, NJ. I have been teaching for 20 years. This year I made the switch to technology. I have always has an interest in computers, building them, modifying them or just plain tinkering with them. Even though I haven’t been the technology teacher I have always shared my love and knowledge of technology with the school community.
I am looking forward to implementing coding at all the grade levels within our school and am excited to learn how to best bring the world of coding to all my students.

Thanks

I am James ODonnell and I teach in the public school system in Victoria, Texas. I am a relatively new teacher with considerable experience in technology. My own goals are closely aligned with those of Code.org. I am particularly interesting in encouraging young women, and minority students with an interest in computer technology and coding. I am also interested in integrating technology into other areas of study such as math, the sciences and the humanities.

Hi there! My name is Javier Pena, and I am the new Game and Simulation Foundations teacher at Oakridge High School. I’ve been looking for a way to teach my students the fundamentals of computer science for game scripting, and found out about this site thanks to the Hour of Code taking place at my school. I have 3 years of experience as a 3D game artist and have experience making game with Unity using C#. I look forward to collaborating with you guys!

Hello, my name is Connie Matthews. I live in North Carolina and work at Highland Elementary School. I am currently the Instructional Technology Facilitator at my school this year. I was teaching third grade before moving into this position. In my current position I work more with the teachers in PLCs and with professional development. I teach all of the second grade classes, but I work with students in all grade levels.

I don’t have any knowledge of coding, but I am interested in learning how to code and being a part of this community. I also believe coding will engage the students and motivate them to do better in school.

Hi. My name is Bronwyn Harder and I am the Japanese Specialist at Red Hill Consolidated School, a public primary school on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia.

I ran a successful Hour of Code event at my school and had strong interest from all grade levels. As a language teacher, I see coding as simply learning another language. I want to teach coding when it becomes part of our curriculum in 2017. I also want to show students that middle aged Japanese language teachers are life long learners.

A huge thanks to Code.Org for making my transition into the world of coding such an easy one.

Hi, my name is Lora Meyers, and I am a teacher in North Sioux City, South Dakota. My official title is, Communications Teacher, however, my job is to teach 5-8 grade students about technology and how to use it. I’ve been using Scratch Programming with my students for the past 2 years and just recently started an after-school computer club. I have anywhere from 25-40 enthusiastic students who meet once a week to work through the CS First curriculum by Google. Because I have students who have a wide range of computer and coding skills, I am looking to increase my knowledge and help provide learning however I can to continue to encourage these students.

Hi,
My name is Jordan Comeau and live and work about 30 minutes south of Kansas City, MO. I teach Technology to 5th and 6th grade students. I am interested in learning more about coding and adding it into my curriculum. I have hosted an “Hour of Code” at our school the last two years but really want to build on that experience with students and have them complete the courses. I attended a Code.org workshop over the summer and found some great ways to teach the concepts with having to have devices every time. I also host an after school club using Google CS First.

I love watching sports, reading, playing boardgames and binge-watching TV shows. My favorite shows are Fixer Upper and New Girl. I look forward to meeting some fellow Tech teachers and learning about new ideas.

Hi my name is Richard Campbell. I live and work in Busan South Korea. I teach English to children in grades 1-9. My wife and I run our own private English academy. I discovered coding last year during the hour of code. Since then I have been trying my best to introduce coding through English Language Arts. Last spring we integrated a class set of iPads and coding is slowly becoming a part of our curriculum. I would like to open a few computer science classes for my primary and upper elementary students. There are various computer classes here in South Korea, but the focus of those classes is on certification in programs like Office. However, I would like to offer something unique that will help students in all areas of their studies.

Hi my name is Steve Robinson and I live in Washington state. Currently I am the teacher-Librarian at PineCrest Elementary School in Bremerton, Washington. This is the first year I attempted “Hour of Code” and was blown away by my students and how much they still want to do. I figured in order to be of more use to some of the students, I should take this a step further myself so that I can set up more modules for my students. thanks!

Hello! My name is Michelle Ward. I live in Dyersburg, TN, but I teach at two elementary schools in Obion County, Lake Road and South Fulton Elementary Schools, teaching K-8. This is my first year teaching elementary school. I had been at the high school for 17 years, where I taught Algebra and Technical Geometry for 12 years and advanced computers (Desktop Publishing, Multimedia, Web Design 1 & 2) for 5 years. I was transferred this year since all of our state testing is being moved to the computer, and our director wanted to be sure that our students could type and be computer proficient.

I teach an advanced Math RTI class, and just discovered the CS in Algebra course at code.org last week. Needless to say, I was ecstatic since it combined my two great loves. I have been coding off and on since I was 9 when I received Maganvox’s Odyssey game console.

I have been Facebook free for going on 2 years now! I don’t like Twitter. I am somewhat socially retarded. Lol. I can be reached through Google+.

I don’t really like ice cream, but melted Moose Tracks is my favorite.
