My name is Andrea and I teach 5-6 science and 5-8 math at a small parochial school in South Dakota. I have never done anything with coding and am working on this for a graduate class I’m taking online. I would like to be able to have my students use code.org and learn about coding, as I never was introduced to it until now.
My name is Keven Langston.
I teach at Clyde Campbell Elementary in Hickory , NC.
I teach second grade.
I would like to be a part of this P.L.C. because I am starting an after school coding club for second graders.
My name is Cecilia. I live and work in Southern California. I teach middle school, 6,7,8 grades computer literacy and introduction to coding. This is the second year I have been using code.org curriculum. I am the only teacher at my school that teaches this, so I am looking forward to being part of this online Professional Learning Community.
I don’t have a favorite ice cream. I like them all.
Minecraft also has an add on called ComputerCraft. There are turtle robots that can be coded or operated with a remote.
Keven,
Great and welcome! Also be sure to check out the Code.org K-5 curriculum. It has an online component that students could do outside of the classroom and then in class experiments when you are together.

Hi everyone. I am Lynda Sjoberg. I teach at Clarendon Park Primary School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, I teach 17 classes from Grade 4 to Grade 7. We concentrate on computer skills, digital citizenship and typing but I was looking for something more interesting and fun to do with my Grade 7’s and came across the Hour of Code. I ended up doing it with all the grades and it was a huge success. I have only been in the computer lab for the past 2 years and have no real skills other than a passion for technology and I am trying very hard to get it integrated into our school. I am a “senior” teacher and hope to retire at the end of this school year, but would love to see my tech dream come true before then.
Hi, my name is Rachelle and I live in Port St. Lucie, Florida. I currently teach 5th grade gifted in a Palm Beach County school. I want to learn more about code.org and how I can implement more coding into my classroom as well as engaging material for my students.

Hi,
I’m Howard, and I’m actually a university teacher. I teach a section of our university’s Introduction to Computer Science class, and I’ve been trying (not very well) to model my class after CSP ever since I was first introduced to it at a SIGCSE meeting a few years ago. I’m very interested in trying to adapt the materials here into a one-semester college course. I look forward to being a part of this community.

Hi! My name is Andrea Gardner. I am a Digital Learning Specialist in Westford, MA. I teach grades 3-5. I am interested in learning more about integrating Code.org with my students in the 2016-2017 school year. We took a dip into the coding world back in December during the Hour of Code. My students absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to get started and to start planning my action plan for September. Thanks for this opportunity.
FYI - my favorite ice cream is Big Dig
Make it a great day,
Andrea

Hi All,
My name is Terri and I am a Grade 4/5 teacher in British Columbia. Our ENTIRE curriculum is changing next year and there is more emphasis put on technology. Part of that is coding and this is why I am here. I came across this site a couple weeks ago and finally made it here to explore. So far it looks great!
Along with teaching full time I am a blogger at Terri’s Teaching Treasures.
MMMM… Chocolate Chip Mint ice cream is the BEST!!!
Well I am off to explore coding.org now!
Cheers,
Terri

I run a computer options class for a small group of interested students and since coding is now a large part of our curriculum, it’s something I would like to get into.
I look forward to sharing ideas and learning from everyone and this course.

Hi,
My name is Nakisha Bowles. I live in Atlanta, Ga., and teach Computer Science to grades 6-8. I am a first year teacher, and want to learn all that I can in this community so that I can bring it back to my students.
Nakiska,
Welcome! That’s great that you want to bring everything back to your students, have you downloaded the ECS Curriculum yet? I don’t know if you are starting on it now but the first 2 units (Human Computer Interaction and Problem Solving) are something you can jump into with a lot of hands on activities. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi! My name is Angie Van Bavel. I teach 2nd grade in Waldorf, MD. I have been teaching for 10 years and realize the direction that our country is heading toward in regards to technology advancement, so I am interested in learning more so that I can teach my students the necessary skills that will help them to be successful in the future.
I am currently preparing myself for an upcoming Code.org training that is being offered in our county. I feel as though I am pretty “tech savvy,” but I’m excited to learn more about coding and how to teach my students how to use it.
