My name is Marcellus Clement and I have been teaching Physical Education and Health in Maryland for 7 years. I have also been coaching girls Varsity Basketball for the last four years. However, this year I am teaching at an International High School that is just opening up in which we want to add coding. I want to use coding to not only strengthen students skills in technology, but also see how this can be used in the educational process almond staff to enhance programs such as edmodo or other advanced ways to reduce paper. I am excited to learn of how I can bring this back to my school!
The course should be very interesting due to the eclectic group of attendees. My name is William Wolfe and this is a second or third career for me. I was educated as an electrical engineer and a physiologist but became an entrepreneur in many fields. Hobbies are soccer, triathlons and hiking.
My name is Heather Brooks. I have been a Physical Science teacher for 13 years. I am in charge of teaching Physical Science at my new High School in Calistoga and they have asked me to teach Exploring Computer Science this year. I have never taught Computer Science before and I am a little nervous about teaching a subject that I don’t really know. I am hoping that this professional development will help me to teach this new class.
I like to be outdoors and I enjoy focusing on applying the Physical Science classes that I teach to the Environment. I started a CTE Physics of Alternative Energy class from scratch 5 years ago and the students really enjoy it and I spend a lot of time developing the curriculum. I want to expand this class into a CTE Chemistry of Alternative Energy class as well.
I additionally have 3 little kids so that is where the rest of my time goes. I have an 8 year old son, 6 year old son and a 2 year old girl. They are all fun, but keep me busy!

My name is Joe Laubie and I am a Business Teacher at Katella High School in Anaheim. I have been teaching business courses for 23 years. I spent one year at Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, and the rest have all been at Katella. I became a teacher because I wanted to be a coach. Growing up I was a very good tennis player, and played college tennis at UC Riverside where I received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. After college, I continued my education by attending the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama from where I received a Master’s Degree in Sports Management. At the time I wanted to work in the sports industry, and while in the Master’s Program worked a one-year internship at CSUF in the Athletics Business Office. During this time I also began my coaching career at Katella coaching the Boys Varsity Tennis Team. These two experiences had a great impact on the direction my future would take. Because I enjoyed coaching so much I decided to go back to school and get a teaching credential so that I could continue to coach and maybe someday become an Athletic Director. I earned my teaching credential from CSUF and did my student teaching at Katella while continuing to coach. After completing my credential I took the teaching position at Leuzinger. At the end of that school year I received a call from the Katella AD at that time stating that my master teacher was retiring and that he would like me to come and interview for the position, and I have been at Katella ever since. I became the boy’s and girl’s Varsity Tennis Coach - a position I kept for thirteen years, and I taught Keyboarding and Computer Applications.
Over the years, I have taught probably every business course offered at Katella and was more than willing to teach Computer Science and Web Design when they were first offered, even though my programming knowledge at the time was limited at best. I have learned much in the area of Computer Science, and enjoy teaching the subject. I am not, nor will I ever be, a programming expert, but I think I have become pretty good at teaching the basic foundations of programming. I am excited to learn more through this training and am hopeful that Exploring Computer Science Course will help us build our Computer Science Pathway at Katella.
