Is there a way to clear student answers on an assessment?

Is there a way to clear student answers so a retake is possible without previous answers being visible?

Hi @linda.kleinekracht,

I don’t see anything on the interface that would indicate that feature exists. It appears the best you might be able to do is simply unlock the assessment so the student can change their answers.

I’ll ask and report back here if there’s more than that, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Hi all, if you’d like to clear out a student’s answers / responses to any assessment or survey, just unlock it for them again, and any subsequent attempt of that survey or assessment will overwrite their previous work. Hope this helps!

We learned today that you must also “Make Visible” again - if you’ve turned that off.

AND students must select Unsubmit at the end of the assessment to enable editing if they have previously submitted

I know that this is an old thread, but has anyone figured out a way to actually do this? Some of the suggestions do result in the student being able to resubmit the assessment, but it starts them off with their previous answers already bubbled in. For our school’s retake policy, I need to give them a “fresh” retake, as though they were taking it for the first time (no prepopulated choices). Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello @christian_stober , it looks like the best thing to do here is to write a support ticket to code.org and request that they clear the student’s work. I don’t know of any way to do it from your end. Sorry!

Thanks for the tip. I contacted them, and basically the response was that you simply can’t clear assessments on the fly. Hopefully it’s a feature addition down the line.
