Keyboard overwriting code

My student was in Unit 2, Lesson 4, bubble learning the beginning fo HTML. As he tried to insert text (expecting it to push the current text to the right), he overwrote the existing text. He pressed the Insert button on his keyboard (Logitech K120), but it did nothing. He’s using a Mac Mini computer.

Any ideas on how to fix this? The student ended. up retyping all the code.

Thank you!

Typically, CTRL+Z will “undo” recent actions. If it’s on a bubble that isn’t too long and they aren’t too far into it, they can also reset the level to it’s beginning state. Here’s a link and information on that from http://support.code.org

Reset the project

If your student is having trouble with some, but not all, Web Lab levels, it’s possible the issue is specific to the project or progress they are trying to load. Performing a reset on that particular level sometimes solves the problem. They can reset their data for that particular level by following these steps:

  1. Click the Version History button.

  2. In the dialog that opens, click the Start Over button.

Sorry he had to retype it all!

Thanks very much. It’s just strange that overwrite turned on when I didn’t even know we had it.

Typically, I think that’s a function of your keyboard. Not exactly sure, but hopefully you won’t have to deal with it often.
