I need to get access to my new grade level before I can add a class. Then I can pick a lesson that I want to do with my 5th graders. I want to have everything printed out first and on a slide show so that I can work through a beginning lesson step-by-step with them. I think I will be ok with my time as long as I complete a lesson during my morning work time. I need to have a plan for the students who do not complete their work in class.
To prepare, I first need to carefully study all the materials, think about what we will do together and what the students will do independently, and print out the materials for the work we need. Since my school supports MS Teams, not Google Classroom, we will combine the work. I do not need to change the set time, it mostly suits me because I will be working with a smaller group. In my case, one of the biggest problems is the language because the students will have to ask for automatic translation every time. When that is not possible, I will help them.
To prepare ahead of time, I need to review the lesson plan thoroughly. I will need to understand the lesson objectives and vocabulary. I should preview the Code.org lesson in the student view and complete it. I will be using Google Classroom, so I will make sure that the lesson is synced with it. I will most likely need to adjust my timing and pacing to ensure that I maximize the school period. Other things I may need to consider while planning the lesson are whether any students have accommodations or belong to special populations. I will differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of the students.
I need to solve all the activities I want to do with my students.
I will share all the resources we need by Classroom, our LMS in order to save paper.
I think that any variation in schedule will be made during the activity.
I have to check if all learning materials and all devices are ready
I can choose which lesson to use for my STEM class, and I’d like to try the lesson myself before assigning it to my students. I plan to have a printed copy of the lesson and also post it in Google Classroom. Since my class period is only 45 minutes, I’ll need to modify the task to fit within that time frame.
