I will probably have my students login through Clever and use a name and password account. I believe some have code.org passwords with other teachers, but I think I would like my class logins/assignments to be unique for our classwork. With any accounts using passwords, I always keep a class rosters for forgotten logins. Although their can be consequences for those who do not keep up with their passwords and frequently require the roster or assistance.
Before the first class, I will determine whether students already have Code.org accounts. I will send a brief survey or ask students during the first session. Students without accounts will create one during class time.
Students will use their school Google accounts to log in through the “Continue with Google” option. This simplifies account management and reduces the likelihood of forgotten passwords.
I will create a section in Code and share the class section code with students. During the first lesson, I will demonstrate how to:
- Go to the Code website.
- Sign in using Google.
- Enter the section code.
- Confirm that they have successfully joined the class.
4. How will I provide instructions?
To ensure all students can access the course successfully:
- I will prepare a one-page instruction sheet with screenshots.
- A digital copy of the instructions will be posted in our learning management system (LMS) and shared by email.
- The section code and login instructions will also be displayed on the classroom screen during the first class.
- Students who are absent will be able to access the instructions online at any time.
Contingency Plan
If students experience login issues, I will have a small group troubleshooting guide available and allocate time during the first lesson to help resolve account or access problems.
This approach should allow students to access the course quickly while minimizing technical barriers.
the students will create their accounts
With a link using their names
they do not have, I will utilize the secret words login type. yes, i will use a hybrid approach to ensure clarity.
No, my Students don’t have Code.org account right now. They will use email later on.
Most of my students already have Code.org accounts. However, since my student groups change every semester, I create new class sections each term. I typically prefer the picture password login option, as it is much easier for my younger students to remember. To join the class, I share either a direct link or the class code with them. For guidance, I will distribute printed instructions to my students in class and post a digital version on the parents’ communication board.
