Welcome to CS Discoveries: Introduce yourself

Hey my name is Brandon Hill and I teach grades 6-8. I plan to teach units 1-3 this year. I am most excited about my students working together to solve problems without the front loading of information!

Hi, I am Shannon DeSantis Gile. I am a middle/high school librarian in Vermont and I am teaching the CS Express course to 7th and 8th graders in the fall. I’ll have students quarterly so my hope is to also integrate a weekly visit to the library for bookish things and choice coding activities. I took some coding classes a few years ago through our local Create Make Learn Institute and I am excited to finally put my learning into action!

My name is Karen. I am a middle school business & technology teacher. I will be teaching CS Discoveries to 7th & 8th graders this year. We will be going through Units 4, 5 & 6.

I’m very nervous and excited at the same time since this is all new to me. We will all be learning together!

My name is Casondra Edwards

Still trying to figure out what I am going to teach. I only have my students a semester before I get a new bunch.
I think all will be interesting.

This is my first year Teaching CS Discoveries so I’m not sure about the last two questions yet!!

Hi all - I am Carol and I teach at Southern Okanagan Secondary School in Oliver, BC, Canada.
This year I am teaching grade 8-10 Information Technology and am planning to use CS Discoveries to thread some consistency through the three courses! I haven’t decided how yet, but I am digging into the curriculum for BC and the CSD program.

I am excited about learning with the students as I have a Science background, but limited computer science - lifelong learning indeed.

Thanks in advance for the support and problem solving help

Carol

Welcome to the Forum @cseymour ! It sounds like you have an exciting journey ahead of you this school year. We look forward to seeing you on the forum.

I’m Amanda Swem and I teach high school. I’m not sure what units I want to teach with my classes this year. I’m excited to have a little more direction and resources to use while teaching my students. What units are you all teaching in CS Discoveries?

Welcome to the forum @aswem
I teach units 1, 2 and part of 3 with my 7th graders. We have other teachers in my district who use units 4, 5, & 6 with our 9 & 10 grade intro to CS class.
