With the amazing updates, additions and subtractions from last year to this year, I have found some minor discrepancies between the VOCABULARY listed on Code Studio vs. Lesson Plans.

I hope Brook and her team can use the superpower of ā€œwigglingā€ her nose and magically the vocabulary on code studio match the vocabulary on the lesson plans.

For Example: STAGE 3
There are 2 words NOT listed on CODE STUDIO but listed on our lesson plans.
Bandwidth and Latency

Since these two words (Bandwidth and Latency) are assessed on our Chapter 1 Test, I can see some students not feeling prepared.

These words were briefly addressed in the Stage 3 video but not a huge focus in the activity.

I know this is a low priority issue but I hope someone can come through both documents and solidify the vocabulary.

Iā€™ve been struggling with this myself. For the time being, you could have students make their own vocab list and add to it when they encounter a new word. I started off making my own vocab list at the beginning of the school year based on the lessons, but Iā€™m having to append to it when we go through Code Studio, videos and assessments. Hopefully, by the end of unit 1 it will be pretty comprehensive. Iā€™d be happy to share the list I come up with if you like.

Hey guysā€¦yeah. There are going to be discrepancies, because unfortunately there are multiple sources of truth in our data right now.

For the most part, Iā€™m pretty sure that if itā€™s vocab students really need to know for the AP exam it will be there. There are a lot of vocab words that - to say we made them up isnā€™t quite right - but we kind of winged it. Like if thereā€™s common jargon or parlance we called it ā€˜vocabā€™.

Coming down the pike: what we call the ā€œStudent-facing lesson planā€ - the page in Code Studio - will be generated from the actual teacher lesson plan to eliminate these discrepancies. We also should be able to generate a giant list of vocab and the lessons in which the words are introduced.

In the meantime, keep pointing out what you find. Weā€™ll fix it.
