Hello,
My name is Consuelo Palmer and I live and work in beautiful Seattle, Washington teaching 5th grade.
I am interested in being a part of the code.org community because with the rapid expansion of technology, I think it is important to introduce students as early as possible to computer science. I look forward to learning and sharing ideas from this forum.
Hi there! My name is Maryjo Green. I live (and work) in the Edmonds School District in Edmonds, WA. I currently am a K-6 Substitute Teacher, but most recently had a long-term substitute position in 1st Grade, so that’s the grade I’ll use for the purposes of this training. I got my Master’s in Teaching in Technology…many, many years ago. This is my entry into learning what I feel are some very important skills in today’s classrooms and I hope to be able to apply what I learn here in my own classroom soon!
Hello everyone,
My name is Marcos Alba and I am a Special Education teacher in LAUSD, California. I work with students with moderate-to-severe disabilities and I have been teaching for the past 6 years at the same school site. The Computer Science Fundamentals course has been very fun and I can’t wait to start exploring a new course with my students as lead learner. The concept of being a lead learner is like a load off of my shoulders because this role allows me to learn along with my students and not have to be an expert in computer science. I have a fun journey ahead!
Hello,
My name Zaira Augusto and live and work in Los Angeles, CA and I work for Los Angeles Unified School district. I currently teach special need students, specifically students with Autism. I am interested in coding and teaching my students how to code because I want to expose them to a new topic and provide them with something that can become more. Perhaps coding can help them in other ways traditional paper and pencil can’t.

My favorite ice cream flavor changes depending on the day, but I usually tend towards fruity flavors with the justification that if it has fruit then it is healthy.

Hey-
I’m Ashley White and I am a K-5 computer lab teacher in Georgia. Georgia recently adopted Computer Science standards. I want to be able to implement these CS standards with fidelity. There are so many CS skills that can be applied to all academic areas and in life.
Hi everyone,
My name is Allison and I live in the Caribbean. After a number of years as a homeroom teacher, I will now be an IT teaching. This is a brand new journey that I am quite excited to be on! Computer science is new to me and I look forward to learning as much as possible to be a knowledgeable and efficient teacher for my students.
Hi My name is Linnea and I teach 1st grade in Lynnwood WA. I have used code.org in the past and am just looking to refresh my learning with this curriculum and stay current.
I’m Jim Landon. I teach physics, biology, and calculus at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, Washington. Given what and where I teach, I am not intending to teach the Code Studio curriculum. I am, however, interested in knowing what sort of introduction my students have had to computer science. Now that all of my students have access to laptop computers and spreadsheets, I would like to know how much new teaching would be required to prepare them to write simple programs on spreadsheets. An example might be to use iterations to graph how many generations would be required to stabilize a new mutation under given parameters of selection.
My name is Chandler Sellevold, and I work in the Edmonds School District. I currently teach Kindergarten. I am interested in learning best practices for teaching the Code.org curriculum in my classroom.

I’m Jim Landon. I teach math and science at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, Washington. I’m interested in this course because I would like to have my biology students this year create their own computer models of biological systems, and it would be helpful to know what they may have already encountered in elementary school, as well as techniques to quickly teach loops, functions, parameters, etc. I’m @JimLandon10
My name is Nikka Gaviola. I am a K-8 Learning Support Teacher at Maplewood Parent Cooperative in the Edmonds School District. I would like to incorporate coding into the Middle School Learning Support Math course that I am currently developing. In addition to learning coding skills and having fun, I think it would be a great way to practice reading and following directions and problem solving. I taught the 5th grade code.org course as a parent volunteer 3 years ago. It looks like there has been quite a lot of change. I’m excited to explore the updates. Find me on Twitter @LurningtoTeech
Hi there! My name is Kathy and I have been a teacher in Fairbanks, AK for 26 years and a resident for 45 years. I moved to Alaska in 1975. I also have a vacation rental business and have properties listed on line. My goal is to offer coding to children who want to learn a topic outside of the regular classroom curriculum.
If you have any suggestions about how you are using it or are planning a trip to Alaska, give me shout! K

My father is a retired teacher and programer, and years ago I took CS classes from him in high school. Curious to see all the changes that have occurred in 20+ years, and hoping to apply coding or at least CS concepts to my classroom.
