Hello everyone,

I’m Mr. Cruz. I work with Tk-8th students. This year, I am excited to bring Code.org to my new school and new position as a lead technology teacher! I worked with a friend at a previous school and got to learn a lot about Code.org during those 2 years. My students are so excited to begin coding, many lit up when they saw the Minecraft Education and Star Wars lessons. I am still figuring it out, but I want my kids to have fun while they learn how to code and modify/alter to their hearts’ content.

Hi. My name is Amerie Lee. I am teaching computer science A and AI for Grade 8, 10, 11 and 12 now. Mostly I am teaching for AP course and IGCSE. I like code.org‘s coding practice and questions. Thanks for the chance to join this community.

My name is Chiraz Benabdelkader, I’m teaching Computer Science for 9th grade using the CSD curriculum for the first time ever. I have a PhD in CS and was a college prof for many years, but learning to teach with code.org is still a learning curve even with several degree in CS! Learning something new is what’s most exciting.

My name is Priscylla Silva, and I teach computer programming to high school students. This year, I plan to work on programming content and introduce artificial intelligence.

Hi! My name is Marie Gherlone and I am a middle school math teacher in a very small school. We currently have 18 students in middle school and about 55 students total (k-8).

I am interested in teaching basic coding and AI to the students.

I want the students to have some knowledge of computers and how they work and not just using them for games and tools. I studied programming in the dark ages of computers (mid 1980s), and used Code.org to introduce some middle school students to the fundamentals of programming casually about 10 years ago when I was a librarian at a different middle school.

I am most excited about using Code.org because they give me the platform to teach something that I am not that familiar with anymore (I would totally fail an assignment to program in Fortran these days!) and can share the experience with my students.

Ms. Marie
